that's the heart of Twisted Metal die-hards. The biggest games right now (that are each dead but this select group of people is large enough that the games are still played) are Twisted Metal: Black Online and Twisted Metal 2 on PC. The former is on PS2.
TMBO (Twisted Metal: Black Online) is a game with horrible network physics and that's the original game I really talked about in terms of overcoming it's terrible network problem--guess what! they all relate to lag! lawlz
